Odyssey, an AI lab building general world models, raised a $310 million Series B at a $1.45 billion valuation. Natural Capital led the round, with Amazon, AMD Ventures, GV, EQT and IQT among the participants. Earlier backers include Google chief scientist Jeff Dean, Elad Gil and Applied Intuition co-founder Qasar Younis.

World models are multimodal systems designed to predict, simulate and interact with the world over long horizons — a building block for robotics, simulation and interactive media.

Self-driving roots

Co-founder Oliver Cameron previously co-founded autonomous vehicle startup Voyage, acquired by GM's Cruise, while co-founder and CTO Jeff Hawke was an engineer at UK self-driving company Wayve. As part of the round, Odyssey chose AWS as its primary cloud and plans to use AWS Trainium chips alongside other hardware.
