Multiply Labs has raised a $75 million Series B to expand robotic systems that automate manual steps in biologics manufacturing, CEO Fred Parietti told Axios. Reports name NantWorks as the lead investor of a group including strategic and financial backers; PageArchi has not independently confirmed the investor list.
Cell and gene therapies are often produced by hand, in clean rooms, one patient batch at a time — which makes them slow and costly to scale. Multiply Labs builds robotic cells that perform those steps inside existing manufacturing equipment. The new money will go toward producing and deploying its systems.
Background
Founded in 2016 and based in San Francisco, Multiply Labs raised a $20 million Series A led by Casdin Capital, with Lux Capital and Pathfinder participating, in 2021. In 2024 it signed a partnership with Retro Biosciences to manufacture longevity cell therapies.
Funding is not the same as clinical or regulatory outcomes — the company's systems still have to prove themselves in production.
